POPE AFB, N.C. -- Airman 1st Class Jacob Kinkade (left) and Tech. Sgt. Darin Ward
disconnect a C-130 Hercules rudder from a vertical stabilizer just before lowering
it to maintainers. The 23-foot rudder, weighing about 250 pounds, was removed
to allow other maintenance. The rudder is the aircraft's largest primary flight
control responsible for the aircraft's direction in flight. The Airmen are both
assigned to the 43rd Maintenance Squadron's aerospace repair section here. (U.S.
