ELMENDORF AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska -- Maj. Tom O'Berg sprints to an F-15 Eagle standing
alert here. The 12th Fighter Squadron stands alert as part of Operation Noble
Eagle, the defense of North American airspace. Within minutes of receiving a call
reporting unidentified aircraft approaching U.S. airspace, he and other pilots
will taxi their aircraft out of the combat alert cell and fly over Alaska's Chugach
mountain range. (U.S. Air Force photo by Master Sgt. Scott Wagers)
