A U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service biologist conducts research on neotropical migratory birds at Tensas River National Wildlife Refuge in Louisiana. Some species of neotropical migrants, so named because they nest in North America and winter in the tropical regions of Central America and South America, are in decline because of habitat loss and degradation.
